Elderly Toronto man charged after teenage girl sexually assaulted on TTC bus

A 78-year-old Toronto man has been charged after a 17-year-old girl reported she was sexually assaulted while riding on a TTC bus with her sister and police believe there may be more alleged victims.

Toronto police responded to a report of a sexual assault on a bus in the Royal York Road and Bloor Street West area around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Police said the girl was on the bus, which wasn’t crowded, with her sister when a man boarded the bus and sat next to her.

He then allegedly sexually assaulted the girl and performed an indecent act, police said.

When the bus pulled into Royal York station officers arrested Yi Chul Chung, 78, and charged him with two counts of sexual assault and one count of performing an indecent act. He is scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on Friday.

Police said the incident is similar to another sexual assault that occurred on the same bus line in May. They have released a photo Chung as part of their investigation.
