While some polls suggest Donald Trump has closed the gap on Hillary Clinton among American voters, an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released Wednesday shows the Republican U.S. presidential candidate decidedly trailing his counterpart.
The poll showed 43 per cent of voters favouring Clinton in a four-way race including Trump, Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson (9 percent) and the Green Party’s Jill Stein (3 per cent).

In a two-way race, the gap between Clinton (48 percent) and Trump (41 per cent) jumps to seven points.
While Clinton is a clear favourite in the NBC/WSJ poll, both candidates are not well-liked by the American public.

The poll asked respondents if they had a favourable opinion of all the candidates, Barack Obama and a couple of countries including Canada.
Clinton and Trump are as popular as Canada – combined.

Seventy-five per cent of Americans have a favourable opinion of the Great White North while just 4 per cent hate us. Contrast that with favourable responses for Clinton (37 per cent) and Trump (28 per cent) and if Canada were an actual human being, it would win in a landslide.
While Trump’s numbers are pretty bad, he still beats the news media (19 per cent) and his bromance, Vladimir Putin (6 per cent).
