Donald Trump says recent attacks in three states should be “a wake-up call for every American.”
The Republican presidential contender made the comment in a statement released Monday, and at a rally in Fort Myers, Fla. He warned that terrorists are rooting for Hillary Clinton to win the presidency so “they can continue their savagery and murder.”

“We have some very, very serious matters to discuss,” Trump told the packed Florida rally.

“There have been Islamic terrorist attacks in Minnesota and New York City and New Jersey. These attacks and many others were made possible because of our extremely open immigration system which fails to properly vet or screen the individuals coming into our country.”
Over the weekend dozens were injured when a bomb exploded in Manhattan, which has been linked to a blast in New Jersey. Ahmad Khan Rahami, an Afghan immigrant has been arrested in the case. He is facing five counts of attempted murder as well as two gun charges.
On Saturday, a man dressed as a security guard stabbed nine people at a Minnesota shopping mall before being shot dead by an off-duty police officer. The Somali man allegedly made references to “Allah” during the attack.

Trump says “political correctness” would not shape his policies if elected. Earlier in the day the Republican presidential nominee said he supports racial profiling to help prevent terrorist attacks at home.
Trump took aim at rival Hillary Clinton, saying the Democratic nominee talks tougher on Trump’s supporters — again mentioning Clinton’s “basket of deplorables” comment— than she does Islamic supporters.
“Has she ever talked that way about radical Islam? No.”
In the statement, he also renewed his support for “extreme vetting” for legal immigrants coming from troubled regions and reminded voters he would not grant entry to Syrian refugees.
Trump warned that failing “to get smart and get tough fast” could make the weekend’s attacks “the new normal.”
