Winnipeg-born wheelchair racer Michelle Stilwell captured her second gold medal at the Rio Olympics with a first place finish in the women’s 100-metre T52 event.
Stilwell set a Paralympic record by crossing the finish line in 19.42 seconds. Her time was a little more than half a second faster than silver medalist Kerry Morgan of the United States. Stilwll holds the world record in the event at 18.67 seconds.

The 42-year-old also finished first in the 400-metre T52 race. She’s won a total of six gold medals since making her Paralympics debut at the 2000 Sydney Games.
Stilwell now lives in BC and is a MLA for Parksville-Qualicum on Vancouver Island.
