After the first day below freezing in four months, Saskatoon’s weather is warming back up!

Today
This morning was the first time in 113 days that Saskatoon has seen the mercury fall below freezing.
Last night, a frost advisory was put in place by Environment Canada for widespread frost as temperatures were forecast to fall a few degrees below freezing, however the cloud cover ended up sticking around a little longer than expected, helping to insulate our night a bit more.
The lowest recorded temperature at the airport in Saskatoon was -0.2 degrees with parts of the south getting down as cold as -5 in Val Marie.
There were some reports of frost in the city and people needing to scrape windshields this morning.
We did warm up quickly thereafter with the mercury climbing up into double digits by 10 a.m. CT, before reaching the mid-teens by noon.
Mostly sunny skies and moderate southwesterly winds are to thank for the quick warm-up today with sustained speeds in the 30 to 40 km/h range with gusts upwards of 50 km/h at times.
These conditions are expected to continue for the remainder of the day, helping to warm us up to around 17 degrees this afternoon.
Tonight
Mostly clear conditions will continue tonight as temperatures dip back to around 3 degrees with a slight risk of frost in low-lying areas.
Wednesday
It looks like high pressure will remain in place for the next little while, giving us another mostly sunny day tomorrow.
Temperatures should also recover with a steady, mild southwesterly wind through the day and all the major systems sliding by north of the region, helping us reach a daytime high back in the low 20s.
Thursday-Friday
This ridge looks to hold pretty steady for the rest of the week, keeping under predominantly mostly sunny skies for the rest of the work week with a few more clouds possible on Friday.
Daytime highs will also continue to climb up to around 23 degrees for Thursday before reaching the mid-20s Friday.
Weekend Outlook
The climax of this warm-up looks to reach the area on Saturday with a daytime high around 26 degrees expected under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies.
Cooler air does look like it’ll be making a return at some point on Sunday along with some more clouds and a chance of showers, however depending when that front slides through, we could still hit a high in the low-to-mid 20s that day.
