More than 100 rabbits from the Victoria area have been relocated to a sanctuary just outside of San Antonio, Texas.
The rabbits had been living near the Helmcken Overpass on Highway 1. They are descended from abandoned domestic rabbits and were distracting drivers and damaging the area.

Last fall, a volunteer group offered money to spay, neuter and relocate the rabbits. The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure worked with the group to organize a new home.
The first group of rabbits were transferred to the sanctuary back in February.
Pet owners are being reminded not to release pets into the wild and to contact a shelter if they are unable to care for their animals.
