A cement truck driver is dead following an accident on Autoroute 132 east in Boucherville Friday afternoon.
It happened at the start of rush hour around 3:30 p.m., causing a six-kilometre traffic jam.
Police say the 46-year-old driver wanted to change lanes before the exit towards the Lafontaine Tunnel and slid into the guardrail instead, flipping his vehicle and trapping him inside.
Authorities were on the scene and freed the driver, transported him to hospital in critical condition, but he later died.
Police are working with the CNESST to investigate the cause of the crash and will perform a full mechanical inspection of the truck.
