WINNIPEG — Manitoba RCMP are warning drivers to slow down on the Perimeter Highway following the death of a cyclist Wednesday morning.
The fatal collision occurred at St. Anne’s Road and the Perimeter Highway around 8 a.m.

Most serious collisions on the Perimeter occur at intersections, said RCMP Sgt. Mark Hume.
“It’s the intersections that are the most dangerous, most intersection are reduced to 80 kms per hour but I’m being told that not a lot of people follow that at all.” he said.
Another recent collision at Pipeline Road and the Perimeter Highway killed two people.

Reducing the number of intersections on the Perimeter Highway would improve safety and traffic flow, said Terry Shaw with the Manitoba Trucking Association.
“We need to see the removal of those at-grade intersections, the removal of the stop-start traffic and we need to see it function as a true bypass pathway,” said Shaw.
Right now there are 11 intersections on the Perimeter but two are part of the cloverleaf construction happening at Lagimodiere Boulevard.
That interchange reconstruction will cost around $200 million.
