The federal government has pledged $4.5-million to develop a new campground in Mount Revelstoke National Park.
It’s part of a $5.9-million funding announcement for upgrades to Mount Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks.
The rest of the funding will go towards upgrades to the Rogers Pass Maintenance Compound, which is the headquarters for highway and avalanche operations in Glacier National Park, and new signage in both parks.
The campground in Mount Revelstoke will be easily accessible by vehicle and located close to the Trans Canada Highway.
It is expected to be finished by the end of the 2018 construction season and open to campers by the summer of 2019.
