“I told my boss I might be away for the rest of the week,” explained Hand when she picked up her winnings at the B.C. Lottery Corporation offices Wednesday. “My boss asked why and I said ‘because I won a million dollars!’”

The win from a $10 100X Multiplier scratch ticket left the Kelowna woman numb, according to the BCLC release.

“It still doesn’t feel real,” said Hand.

Hand purchased the ticket at the Husky gas station on Edwards Road.

The 51-year-old scratched the ticket on the way to work, but returned to the gas station on her break to scan it and verify the win.

Hand says she was shocked when all the zeroes came up.

“I almost peed myself,” Hand says.

She went back to work and told her boss she had to leave.

Hand plans on heading to the East Coast to visit her mother, not having visited in 13 years.

“I’m debating if I should tell my mom about the win on the phone or surprise her at her doorstep,” laughed Hand.
