According to police, the results of autopsies show 93-year-old Joao Nascimento and his 81-year-old wife Maria Nascimento died of mutliple stab wounds after police say they were attacked in their home on Friday.

Police said officers were called to a “suspicious persons call” at a home in the area of 111 Avenue and 111 Street shortly after noon on Sept. 2 and found two people dead inside when they got there.

Edward Kyle Roberts, 31, is accused of breaking into a nearby home and stealing a knife that police allege he used to kill the couple after breaking into their High Park home sometime Friday morning.

Roberts is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of break and enter and with possession of a weapon as well as breach of recognizance.
