WINNIPEG — A Winnipeg man has been hit with several fraud charges for falsely soliciting funds on behalf of CancerCare Manitoba.
Winnipeg Police say the 38-year-old was going door-to-door in the St. James and River heights area last month, claiming to be a cancer survivor, and asking for donations to the charity. He allegedly pocketed an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspicious fundraising prompted CancerCare Manitoba to issue a warning of a possible fraudulent door-to-door fundraiser.

Police investigated and have since charged Cory John Oger with eight counts of fraud under $5,000 as well as failing to comply with a probation order.
