If you’re planning to travel over the Labour Day weekend, you’d better pack some patience.
This past week there have been long lines at Trudeau Airport with some passengers reportedly waiting up to three hours to go through customs.
No matter which way you turned, the line was endless.
Photos with comments sarcastically welcoming people to Montreal popped up on social media.
“After a 13 and a half hour day of travelling the last thing I expected was to wait nearly three hours at customs,” said Montrealer Tali Mailhot. “I heard from a few people that it’s been like this for a few days now. For a big metropolitan city like Montreal it’s pretty disappointing. Safe to say I registered for Nexus when I got home,” she said.
Many passengers said there were only a handful of customs agents working, and that many kiosks were closed.
Global News reached out to the Canada Border Services Agency for a comment on this story, but they failed to meet our deadline.

By Thursday morning travellers arriving at the airport from Los Angeles and Mexico City said things were back to normal.
“It was fast the line was fast. It was very good, a good change for us,” said American traveller Lourdes Endridres.
“This is the first time we’ve come to Canada so we haven’t been waiting very long,” said Georges Lightholder after stepping off a flight from L.A. “It was a pleasant trip except for the three-year-old kicking me in the seat but otherwise it was very nice.”
But with one of the busiest travel weekends of the year coming up travellers should be wary, and ready to wait.
