The Calgary Police Service (CPS) Homicide Unit is investigating the discovery of a body in the community of Dover Glen.
Police were called to an alley in the 2700 block of 41A Avenue S.E. at around 8:15 a.m. on Thursday.
When they arrived, officers found the body of a male.
“At this time the death is being treated as suspicious,” CPS said in a news release.
Police tape cordoned off the alley as well as a small blue bungalow.
Duty Staff Sgt. Jim Shaw said it’s believed the call to police was made by “somebody who lives in the home.”
Neighbours told Global News police had visited the house in the past.
Police said the City of Calgary’s Animal Services was called to assist after a pitbull was found in the yard of the home.
“We had animal control take it, so it was secured in a safe place,” Shaw said.
Police said Thursday it’s not believed area residents or members of the community are at any risk.
“We don’t believe that there should be any concern for neighbours in the area,” Shaw said.
