*UPDATE: Edmonton police said Saturday morning their investigation into the LRT incident had concluded. It is not criminal in nature.
A person was struck by a train at Edmonton’s Southgate LRT Station Friday afternoon, according to Edmonton Transit and Edmonton Fire Rescue Services.
The incident on the Capital Line LRT resulted in citywide service delays during the afternoon rush.
Edmonton Transit tweeted shortly after 4 p.m. to say there was an emergency incident at track level at the Southgate LRT Station.

Edmonton Transit confirmed to Global News that one person was taken to hospital after being struck. Alberta Health Services said the person was in critical condition.
The incident forced the closure of the northbound track at Southgate. Trains were running on a single track from the south Edmonton station.
Edmonton Transit said it hoped to have the line running at full capacity in time for the Edmonton Eskimos game Friday night but by 7:15 p.m., only a single-track was being used.
At least two fire trucks and two police vehicles were on scene at around 4:40 p.m.
