Wildfire breaks out near Peachland

NEAR PEACHLAND – The Peachland Fire Department and the BC Wildfire Service are battling a small forest fire in the hills above Peachland.

It’s burning near McCall Creek and was spotted early Friday afternoon.

Fire Information Officer, Rachel Witt, says it covers about 1.5 hectares.

Three air tankers, four skimmer aircraft and a bucketing helicopter are attacking the blaze from above.

A dozen forestry firefighters are also on scene.
