Winnipeg teen arrested for 60 calls to 911 in less than a month

WINNIPEG – A 15 year-old girl has been charged with public mischief after police say she called 911 sixty 60 times this summer.

Police said the first call was made from a home in the downtown July 26th but when police went to investigate officers said there was no emergency.

Between July 26th and August 24th 60 calls were made from the same residence but police said each time there was no emergency.  They also could not find where the phone calls were allegedly made from.

“It is a massive drain on resources because it may not simply be one unit that responds,” Const. Rob Carver said.

On Wednesday the caller claimed an adult woman had been stabbed at the home.  Once again police said there was no emergency but they did find a cell phone they believe the 911 calls were made from.

A 15 year-old was arrested and charged with public mischief.  While making that arrest police alleged a 12 year-old assaulted a police officer.
