CALGARY- Complaints continue to come forward about a Calgary-area contractor.
Service Alberta is investigating five complaints against Kreate Kitchens and its director, Kieron Warren.
It turns out Warren operated a company called Hillcrest Renovations and was charged two years ago for taking deposits with a license and failing to refund money on cancelled contracts.
He pleaded guilty under the Fair Trading Act and will be sentenced next week.
But now, he’s being accused of the same thing, this time while operating a company called Kreate Kitchens.
Homeowner Rob Hanson said he gave Warren a $7,600 deposit in April. When his renovation wasn’t finished by August, he fired Warren, tore ou the cabinets and hired a new company to finish the job.
Calgarians Brian and Angie Chubb have a similar story, saying they gave Kreate Kitchens $28,000 in April for a renovation. Their kitchen still hasn’t been finished, and they haven’t been able to get their money back.
The couple’s kitchen has no cupboard doors or electricity and they eventually had to wash their dishes in the bathroom sink.
“It tears apart your life, you’re living in chaos.”
Those considering a renovation are urged to screen contractors through the Better Business Bureau.
