Man recovering in Saskatoon hospital from stab wound to chest

Saskatoon police say they have charged a man after another man was stabbed in the chest on Saturday.

At around 3:50 p.m. CT, officers were called to an injured person in the area of 40th Street and Quebec Avenue. Police said a suspect had fled after the victim was stabbed.

The injured man was taken to hospital where he was previously reported to be in serious but stable condition. He underwent surgery for the chest wound.

A canine officer was brought in and located a suspect at 4th Avenue and Queen Street. Police said a 26-year-old man was arrested and a weapon believed to have been used in the stabbing was recovered.

He is facing several charges including aggravated assault. The accused is expected to appear Sunday in front of a justice of the peace.

Police said the suspect and victim are known to each other.
