Saskatchewan RCMP issued a statement Saturday concerning online comments about a shooting that left Colten Boushie, 22, dead near Biggar on Aug. 9.
“There have been comments made on social media that are concerning and could be criminal in nature. We are asking everyone to remain respectful in their online communication,” read the statement.

RCMP said they are taking all complaints very seriously and the safety and security of the public is their number one priority.
Anyone with concerns is asked to contact their local police service or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 if they wish to remain anonymous.
In all emergency situations, the public is urged to call 911.

On Friday, a judge decided that Gerald Stanley was to be released on $10,000 bail. The 54-year-old man from the Biggar district is charged with the second-degree murder of Boushie, who was from the Red Pheasant First Nation.
The conditions of Stanley’s release include electronic monitoring and staying at least 32-kilometres from the First Nation.
