Downtown Eastside shooting sends man to hospital

Vancouver police are investigating after a shooting in downtown's Vancouver Eastside sent one man to hospital.

One man is in hospital and two people are arrested following a shooting in Vancouver Wednesday night.

The incident took place around 6:30 p.m. when Vancouver police were called to East Pender Street and Columbia Street for a report of gunshots heard.

When they arrived they found a man had collapsed outside a restaurant. The man had been shot in the stomach.

The victim was transported to hospital in an ambulance.

Police say about one hour later, two suspect believed to have been involved in the shooting were arrested on West 12th Street.

Both men remain in custody.

The  three individuals involved are known to police.

Vancouver Police Serious Crimes Unit has been called out to investigate the incident.
