A new streetcar pushing a stalled streetcar through a downtown Toronto intersection derailed due to rainfall debris, according to the TTC.
The incident happened around 9:20 a.m. Tuesday on King Street West when the streetcar went off the rails as it tried to turn north on Bathurst Street en route to the Wolseley Loop near Queen Street West.
TTC crews spent most of the day working to get the streetcar wheels back on the track and the wheels reattached to the streetcar.
Green said there doesn’t appear to be damaged to the road or tracks but crews are still assessing damage to the streetcar.
The streetcar was not in service at the time and there were no passengers on board.
Multiple eastbound streetcars were halted as a result of the incident.
The TTC had to bring in approximately 12 shuttle buses to restore service on the affected portion of King Street West.
