Forty years after he first checked out the book So You Want to be a Doctor, TV plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Kelly finally returned it to the Kanawha County Library in West Virginia.
Kelly told WCHS TV that he checked out the book in 1976 just months before he left for medical school. He credits the book for informing him about the admissions process and solidifying his career decision.

“Only about one out of two actually got in. So things like test scores, GPAs, it gave you facts, so it made the process more realistic for me,” he said.
“I am extremely embarrassed that it has been checked out for so long.”
