Winnipeg police identify body found in dumpster

WINNIPEG — A body found in a Winnipeg dumpster has been identified as 43-year-old Garnet Walter Williams. Winnipeg police gave the man’s name in a news release Friday afternoon.

Witnesses who say they discovered the body Wednesday night tell Global News they noticed a terrible smell and flies coming from a garbage bin at McGee Street and Ellice Avenue.

“I took a look and saw a leg at first, and I thought oh my god, something must be going terribly wrong,” said one witness who didn’t want to give his name.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding William’s whereabouts in the weeks leading up to his death to contact officers at 1-204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 1-204-786-8477.
