Rio 2016: Canada defeats Brazil in preliminary men’s beach volleyball

Canada’s men’s beach volleyball team defeated Brazil in a close-fought match Tuesday morning.

The Canadian team of Chaim Schalk and Ben Saxton lost the first set, but made it up in the second. The two teams traded the lead back and forth throughout the third set. Both teams eventually tied at 14 points in the third set – with 15 points needed to win.

After a short time-out in front of screaming fans at Copacabana Beach, Saxton served an ace to win the game.

Saxton and Schalk’s record in the preliminary round so far is 2 wins and one defeat.
