Toronto police say they have located the father of a young girl who was found alone on a city transit bus early Tuesday morning.
Toronto Transit Commission spokesman Brad Ross says the girl, who is thought to be nine years old, was seen on a bus around 3:30 a.m. in downtown Toronto at Yonge and Adelaide.
He says a passenger alerted the bus driver, who notified the TTC control centre and police were called.
Police are investigating why the girl was on the bus by herself at that time of the morning, and where she lives.
Police confirmed the girl’s father was located Tuesday morning and the investigation is ongoing.
The girl is now in the care of the Children’s Aid Society.
Late last month, two young girls were found wandering a street in the city’s west end by themselves just before 7 a.m.
In that case, Toronto police say the girls, who were both three years old, were believed to have simply woken up early and gone outside together.
They were reunited with their mother at a police station.
