Calgary police have identified the victim in what they deemed the city’s latest homicide.

Officers were called to a residence in the 300 Block of 1 Avenue northeast at around 12:40 a.m. Sunday.

Police said they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound inside one of the apartments. He was identified by police Monday as Calgarian Frank Dwayne Blomme, 55. An autopsy was underway Monday.

Police are asking any witnesses to come forward, despite their belief some witnesses may not want to speak to investigators “because of unresolved criminal charges.”

“Investigators would like to assure these witnesses that the main priority in speaking to them will be solving this homicide,” police said Monday.
