Team USA’s men’s basketball team has hit upon a luxurious solution to #RioProblems – renting a cruise ship for the duration of the Olympic Games.
While fellow NBA player Andrew Bogut puts together his own shower curtain in the Australian dorm at the Olympic village, the Americans are staying aboard the “Silver Cloud”, anchored in Rio’s port.
According to the website of cruise ship operator Silversea, the Silver Cloud carries up to 296 guests “in incomparable comfort and style.”
“Combining spacious ocean-view suites and private verandas with stunning dining and entertainment options, our inaugural ship launched a new ocean standard and continues to epitomize Silversea’s vision of world-class cruise accommodations, service and amenities,” it reads.

There are four restaurants on board, as well as a bar, a card and games room, a casino, spa, theatre, fitness centre and pool – among other amenities.
All-inclusive cruises on board the Silver Cloud in the next year cost anywhere from $3,000 to over $12,000 US, depending on their length and the destinations.
The US basketball team hasn’t stayed in the Olympic village since 1988, the federation’s chief media officer, Craig Miller, told NPR.
