ManyFest 2016 introduces Pokemon Go lures and licensed food truck area

WINNIPEG — The city’s largest downtown street festival may be more than a month away, but organizers are already promising more to look forward to for the sixth annual event.

ManyFest will take over Broadway September 9 to 11.

The three day festival will once again feature the popular Food Truck Wars, and for the first time ever the area will be licensed. Festival-goers will be able to sip and savour beers and wines while waiting in line for delicious food truck cuisine.

There will also be PokemonGo lures for kids hoping to play the virtual game.

Festival organizers unveiled the new activities at this year’s ManyFest Wednesday in front of the Manitoba Legislature.

“This year we’re excited to announce Oh Doughnuts, one of our newest Broadway businesses, is embracing ManyFest and creating a special festival-inspired doughnut flavour,” said Stefano Grande of the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ.”

“This is what downtown is all about – celebrating people, place, and creating positive experiences.”

Broadway will close from Osborne Street to Edmonton Street while thousands take in the activities. Last year, nearly 70,000 visitors took in the downtown festival.
