Salmon Arm RCMP said its detachment responded to over 100 complaints from Friday to Monday during the B.C. Day long weekend.

“Our members were active on the highways, city streets and on the portion of the lake our office is responsible for,” S/Sgt. Scott West said in a news release.

He said officers checked more than 100 boats last week and throughout the long weekend.

“Thankfully relatively few boaters were missing their safety equipment,” West said.

“Those missing that key safety equipment were served tickets and escorted ashore.”

West said a number of vehicles were also stopped; warnings and tickets were issued throughout area roads.

“One vehicle was impounded by our office and the driver was ticketed for excessive speed.”

West said despite the busy long weekend for officers, it appears it was a safe one locally.
