RCMP said Tuesday an 18-year-old has died after he was pulled out of a southern Alberta lake Monday afternoon.

According to conservation officers, witnesses noticed he was in the water at Park Lake at 4:12 p.m. and attempted to rescue him.

A conservation officer and an off-duty EMT performed CPR while they waited for EMS to arrive in what they described as a “near-drowning incident.”

The man was taken to hospital in Lethbridge without a noticeable pulse.

Officials said his pulse returned at the hospital and he was transported to Calgary via STARS Air Ambulance.

Police said Tuesday he died in hospital and that his death was not suspicious or criminal in nature.

Park Lake Provincial Park is located about 18 kilometres north of Lethbridge.
