Thousands slid into the official middle of summer in Kensington Saturday.
A giant slip and slide – about 300 metres long – shut down 10 Street northwest, so kids of all ages could slide down the soapy wet vinyl.
There was also music, street entertainers and local vendors.
Last year, the event was plagued by some problems when Slide the City organizers caused controversy when they announced those who had originally purchased so-called ‘unlimited slider passes’ would have a specific ‘wave time’ that they had to adhere to.
Many began demanding refunds when they realized they would no longer be able to attend the event.

Saturday, however, seemed to go off without a hitch.
This year, Slide the City offered potential participants the chance to purchase a single slider pass, a triple slider pass, an ultimate slider pass or an all day slider pass.
Up next, Harry Potter mania will take over Kensington with a day long show that will draw thousands Sunday.
It’s timed for the release of the 8th installment of the Potter series which comes out at midnight.
Last year, over 8,000 people attended Calgary’s first-ever Slide the City event held on Aug 1 and 2.
