RCMP rescue baby from locked hot vehicle in northern Alberta

Athabasca RCMP helped get a nine-month-old baby out of a hot vehicle after the child was accidentally locked inside.

It happened at approximately 12:10 p.m. on Thursday at the river front in Athabasca, which is about 150 kilometres north of Edmonton.

The RCMP and Athabasca County Fire Department were able to get into the vehicle with the help of Hunter Motors.

They freed the baby, who was not injured, RCMP said.

Mounties are warning people not to leave children unattended in vehicles and that hot summer days can pose a dangerous risk.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Athabasca RCMP at 780-675-5122.

On Monday afternoon, firefighters broke a window to get a two-year-old out of a hot car in south Edmonton.

It’s alleged the mother accidentally locked the child, keys and purse inside the vehicle.
