Surrey residents detain suspect during break and enter

Three suspects have now been charged following a targeted break and enter and assault in Surrey earlier this week.

A group of residents detained one of the suspects during the incident and posted the clip to YouTube. It appears they tied a belt around the man’s neck.

RCMP used video surveillance and spoke to multiple witnesses to identify the suspects alleged to be involved.

The three people now charged are:

  • Robert Wyatt, 39, from Vancouver, has been charged with break and enter, assault, assault causing bodily harm, and failure to comply with probation.
  • Roy Houghton, 28, from Surrey, has been charged with assaulting an individual lawfully detaining a person.
  • Andres Naranjo, 23, from Burnaby, has been charged with break and enter, assault, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. He is not in custody and police are looking for him. He is described as a Hispanic male, 5’7”, 135 lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes.
