WINNIPEG — Winnipeg homeowners who have lost their trees to Dutch Elm disease, now have a chance to replant thanks to a subsidized program offered by the city.
Up to 700 property owners can take part in the city’s ReLeaf program, which provides quality and affordable trees.
The $55 program allows you to choose from four different tree packages, that comes with supplies and support from city staff. The value of the package is around $150.

Trees will be available at a planting workshop in September. Homeowners will also receive instructions on how to plant and care for their trees. The deadline to register is Sept. 1.
Dutch elm disease
Dutch Elm disease has been a problem in Winnipeg for years. The city says about 6,500 American elms were marked for removal last year.
