Sask. young offender back behind bars following escape during escorted leave

A young offender from the North Battleford Youth Centre is back behind bars after he escaped custody during an escorted visit.

The youth was arrested by police on Thursday just after 1:15 a.m. CT in the Battlefords.

He is charged with resisting arrest and is facing a charge of escaping lawful custody.

The youth escaped on July 21 from two correction staff members while on escorted leave for a family funeral.

Officials obtained a court order allowing them to name the youth, who they considered to be dangerous.

That order has now been rescinded since he is back in custody.
