Woman hit by car in northwest Calgary suffers critical injuries

A middle-aged woman was rushed to hospital on Thursday after being hit by a vehicle in the community of Hawkwood.

It happened in the 0-100 block of Hawkwood Drive N.W. at around 10:15 a.m.

Police said a woman was reversing her Honda CRV out of her driveway when she struck a pedestrian that was walking on the sidewalk.

“She was walking her dog at the time,” police said in a Thursday news release.

EMS said the victim was transported to the Foothills Medical Centre in critical, life-threatening condition.

Police said the woman’s dog, which was black and wearing a leash, ran from the scene when the incident occurred and remains missing.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call the Calgary Police Service traffic office at 403-567-4000.
