RCMP have recovered the body of a missing 12-year-old boy from a reservoir at Woodlawn Regional Park.

The discovery was made shortly after 10:30 a.m. According to police, the boy was found approximately 30 metres off shore, near where he was last seen on the beach side of the Boundary Dam at the park.

RCMP said many local Estevan residents aided with the recovery efforts.

“Many people assisted in canvassing the shorelines, going out in their boats and offers of assistance during the search,” Const. Craig Park said.

Estevan RCMP were originally called to the park for a report of a possible drowning at around 2 p.m. Sunday.

According to police, a 12-year-old boy was swimming with another person when he was seen going under the water.

The boy’s name has not been released but RCMP confirmed he was a local Estevan resident.
