The winner of the second annual L’Alpe de Grand Blanc bike race is a 15-year-old Kelowna boy.
The 60-kilometre race ran on Sunday, from the East Kelowna Community Hall to Big White Ski Resort.
Conor Martin beat out 135 other riders, completing the race in two hours and 20 seconds.
Martin also won last year’s race.
“It was a lot harder to break away at the beginning than last year,” Martin said in a press release, “but the weather was much nicer, which made the race easier. Last year, it was so cold I couldn’t shift the gears.”
Marg Fedyna, 51, was the first female to cross the finish line, in a time of two hours, 14 minutes and 52 seconds.

“It feels great to win this year,” said Marg in the release. “It was a hard effort with the hill climb, fortunately there were people to work with along the way. The wind was strong but it was a lovely day – sunshine can’t be beat – and it was great to see such a good turnout.”
Martin and Fedyna were awarded Polka Dot Jerseys, plaques and cash prizes.
Prizes were also handed out in the team event, kids event, and to the oldest competitor, 80-year-old Cliff Serwa, who is the co-founder of Big White Ski Resort.
