Calgary councillor pushes for gender-neutral washrooms in city buildings

Members of Calgary’s city council will be considering creating gender-neutral washrooms in City of Calgary buildings during a meeting on Monday.

The notice of motion from Ward 11 Councillor Brian Pincott suggests administration work with stakeholders to re-sign all single occupancy washrooms in City of Calgary buildings to ensure gender neutrality.

In addition, Pincott wants policies developed to address gender-neutral washrooms in current City of Calgary buildings and facilities, and those built or renovated in the future.

He points to diversity and inclusion as the reason for the proposed changes.
