WINNIPEG — Canada’s new low cost air travel company will attempt to take flight for the second time this year.
NewLeaf Travel Company sent a test flight from Halifax to Winnipeg Friday afternoon, ahead of the official take off Monday.
The company was initially set to take flight in January. However, it was grounded for a licensing review, that it later passed.
It announced last month that it’ll take flight July 25 and on Friday said all preparations point to thumbs up for Monday.
“The airports have received all deposits and all the partners have received their deposits and we’re ready to go,” said Jim Young, the CEO and President of NewLeaf Travel Company.
Winnipeg Airport Authority said they’re also ready for Monday’s launch.
Passenger Rights Activist, Gabor Lukacs, has filed an injunction against the travel company, citing major concerns about the survival of the company that has already been delayed once before.
NewLeaf calls these concerns unwarranted and explained the company has a back up plan with their partners over at Flair Airlines.
