Some new Saskatchewan drivers met up with police during June’s traffic safety blitz for not following their restrictions.
By far the greatest violation was driving as a learner without a supervising driver, with 51 tickets handed out.

Police also handed out 21 tickets for failing to comply with a licence endorsement or restriction, one for exceeding the zero tolerance level for alcohol or drug use and one to a motorcyclist for failing to display the proper learner or novice placard on their motorcycle.
Along with those 74 tickets, police across the province wrote up an additional 5,240 tickets during the month.
The majority of those – 3,985 – were for speeding and aggressive driving. There were also 254 impaired driving offences, 407 seatbelt violations and 302 distracted driving tickets – including 192 for cellphone use.
