A 34-year-old Courtice, Ont. man has been charged with impaired driving after police say he was seen driving erratically with a baby in the rear seat of his car.
Durham Regional police responded to the area of Taunton Road and Trulls Road, about an hour east of Toronto, after numerous calls reported a vehicle driving dangerously.
Police said a brown Dodge ran a red light at the intersection and was seen “driving all over the road” while heading southbound on Trulls Road.

The Dodge then nearly crashed into a ditch along the road and police said the driver was seen tailgating another car on the road.
Officers caught up with the driver as he was parking his car at a residence on Trulls Road, when a baby under the age of two was located buckled up in the back seat.
The driver was arrested at the scene and police said arrangements were made to take care of the child.

He has been charged with impaired operation of a vehicle by drug and was released on a later court date. His identity has not been released in order to protect the identity of the child.
