Contributed: WKFD

West Kelowna firefighters dealt with a vehicle fire early Thursday morning and the outcome could have been serious because it was found in the middle of the forest.

The call came in shortly before 2:30 a.m. when smoke was spotted coming from the 2800 block of Glenrosa Road.

“When the first crew arrived, they found a fully involved vehicle parked on a small side road,” said West Kelowna assistant fire chief, Darren Lee. “The vehicle fire had extended into the wildland. The initial arriving crew successfully knocked the fire down and was  able to ensure that the fire did not spread further into the wildland.”

Lee says the cause would appear to be suspicious and that the file has been turned over to the RCMP for further investigation.
