Elderly woman heard ‘screaming’ after possible abduction in west-end Toronto: police

Police are asking the public for help after an elderly woman may have been abducted in the city’s west end. Investigators say she was heard “screaming” while “aggressively” being thrown into a flat-bed truck near Toronto’s Liberty Village.

Officers responded to a call for an abduction in the Springhurst Avenue and Spencer Avenue area around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Witnesses reported seeing an older woman, aged about 80 to 85 years old, walking in the area with the aid of a walker.

Police said a flat-bed truck pulled up alongside the woman and she was “aggressively” lifted into the cab of the truck before her walker was thrown into the truck bed.

The truck was last seen driving northbound on Spencer Avenue and police said the woman was heard screaming as it drove away, but have no further description of the vehicle.

The woman is described by police as white, standing 5’2″, with a medium-to-heavy build, long grey hair down to her back wearing dark or black clothing.

Police are hoping to speak to anyone who may have information that can help identify the woman and her whereabouts.
