Hot and humid weather has moved into Saskatchewan, forcing some people to seek shelter, others to soak up the sun and experts to recommend caution.
An upper ridge of high pressure contributed to temperatures around 30 C on Tuesday.
It’s not ideal for Alex Leike, who spent the day behind a hot dog stand on Spadina Crescent in Saskatoon.
“Some people love it. They’re like lizards obviously. It’s just their thing. The heat is just not my jam,” Leike said.

Factoring in the humidex, temperatures exceeded 30 degrees in multiple communities.
“Down in the southeast, we have a special weather statement because we think it’s going to be close to the 40 mark,” said Environment Canada meteorologist John Paul Cragg.
The weather service only issues a warning related to the heat if the humidex meets or exceeds 40 C.
During hot weather officials recommend sunscreen, hydration and activities that aren’t too strenuous.
“And if you are feeling ill, to go inside in an air conditioned area until you can cool down and feel a little bit better,” Cragg added.

Animal advocates urge pet owners to never leave their four-legged friends in parked vehicles that aren’t running. They too need to keep cool and hydrated.
But shaving a pet’s fur isn’t always the right choice, according to Josh Hourie, community relations coordinator with the Saskatchewan SPCA.
“That could lead to things like rashes and sunburn and things like that,” Hourie said.
Saskatchewan’s hot and humid with is expected to continue all week.
