An unidentified witness told WAFB he saw “a man lying in the street.”
“I assume he was dead because he wasn’t moving.”
Brady Vancel also spoke to the station, telling WAFB the man looked like a pedestrian running with a rifle in his hand, rather than someone trained to move with a rifle.

“I was going outside and soon as I was going outside I just hear shots fired everywhere,” Marquis Gibson told CNN. “And then everyone just started running inside the building. And then I was just, everyone just standing in the back of the store. Then all of a sudden, about 10 minutes later, there’s a chopper in the sky. A helicopter.”
