Baton Rouge shooting: Social media reaction to 3 officers killed

News has travelled fast about a police shooting in Baton Rouge on Sunday prompting the Twitter world to react as swiftly.

Just after 9 a.m. an shots rang out less than two kilometres away from the police station in the city. Officials say three officers are dead and three others are wounded, one critically.

Officials also said that one suspect was “down” but two others are still at large.

The incident quickly brought a reaction from Dallas Police Chief David O. Brown, who had five of his officers killed in a similar attack on July 7.

Other member of the law enforcement community also sent along their condolences to the fallen.

Members of the U.S government were quick to call for action, although the reaction was slightly different on party lines.

Republican Donald Trump is blaming a “lack of leadership” for the incident.

Trump says in a statement posted on his Twitter and Facebook pages that “We grieve for the officers killed in Baton Rouge today.”

He asks, “How many law enforcement and people have to die because of a lack of leadership in our country? We demand law and order.”

Some celebrities also voiced their sadness over the incident.
