SUMMERLAND – A man from Quebec has been killed in a climbing accident on Giants Head Mountain in Summerland.
RCMP say migrant orchard employees saw their co-worker fall as he was attempting to free-climb the west face of the mountain at about 8:00 p.m. Thursday.

He made his way up to the victim and performed CPR in an unsuccessful attempt to save his life.
The co-worker then had to be rescued by the technical rope team from Penticton Search and Rescue who descended about 500 feet to his location on a ledge.
It was a further descent of about 600 feet to the bottom.
The deceased, in his early 20’s, was removed Friday morning with the use of a helicopter long-line.
The man’s name has not been released.
