Meetings set for SaskPower rate review

The Saskatchewan rate review panel has announced the dates for public meetings on a proposed SaskPower rate increase. 

SaskPower has applied for a 4.9 per cent rate increase to take effect January 2, 2013. 

The increase would affect all customer classes with the exception of the contract rate class.

The panel will hold a meeting in Saskatoon on the proposed increase on September 19th at 1:30 p.m. at the Bessborough. 

A second meeting will be held in Regina at the Ramada Hotel on October 2nd at 7:30 p.m. 

Panel chair Kathy Weber says the public’s input is important to the process. 

“Participants will hear directly from SaskPower about the application, so they have access to information and can express informed opinions has part of the review process,” said Weber.

The panel will issue its report on the proposed increase by November 19th. 

The final decision on the increase will be made by the provincial cabinet.
